NDIS December 2025 Update: Planning Changes, Holiday Support & Payments

The NDIS has released its final update for 2025, outlining key changes planned for 2026, along with information about holiday support, payment timeframes, and upcoming information sessions.

New NDIS Planning Framework

A new NDIS planning model will begin rolling out from mid-2026. Most participants will not experience changes immediately, and current plans remain unchanged.

The updated process will introduce a support needs assessment, which involves a guided conversation with a trained assessor to better understand individual support needs and assist with creating fair and flexible funding budgets.
Importantly, NDIS plans will continue to be approved by people, and participants will retain full review and appeal rights.

Holiday Support & Payments

The NDIS National Contact Centre will be closed on national public holidays:

  • 25 December (Christmas Day)
  • 26 December (Boxing Day)
  • 1 January (New Year’s Day)

Payments may take longer during this period, with most processed within 2–3 days and some up to 10 days. Normal payment cycles resume after 2 January 2026.

Information Webinars

NDIS webinars in December and January will cover planning changes, funding periods, support needs assessments, and legislative updates.
